Your new edits won't show up?
It may happen that after editing your page, you'll go to a browser to check your edit and see no difference at all. For Netscape browsers, try using the Reload menu item. For Internet Explorer, use the Refresh menu item. You may have to reload the page 2 or 3 times to see the update or try depressing the ALT key on your keyboard and then press Reload/Refresh at the same time. (Note: If you have tried to erase a fill-in-the blank section and the old verbage still shows up, try entering a single space to clear out the old text.)

Sometimes your browser still won't show the change. That's because browsers have a built-in time-saving mechanism that allows you to view the most recent pages without the browser actually "going out to the web" and reloading that page from scratch. When you first view a web page, the browser stores or "caches" the page. Pages are stored for a specified number of days, according preferences set up when you configured your browser. That means you may be viewing an old version of a web page -- the version of a web site that your browser previously saved onto your hard disk -- instead of the latest revised version.

Your Filamentality page will be part of this "recently visited" collection of cached (saved) web pages. When you try to view your changes, this memory cache may make it appear as though your edits were not saved. You'll just keep seeing the older version. The way to make sure you are viewing the most recent version of your site is to clear the cache. This can be done with a couple mouse-clicks in both Netscape and Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer Browser
To be sure you are seeing the newest version of a site in Internet Explorer, do the following:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box displayed below appears.

  2. Internet Explorer graphic

  3. On the Temporary Internet Files panel, click the Delete Files button.

  4. On the History Panel, click the Clear History button.

  5. It may take a short time for the cache to clear. Be patient. Click OK and reload the page you want to view in a refreshed form.

  6. You may have to close your browser and reopen to view the edited file.

  7. See Microsoft's page for more info: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx
